Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Automotive Technologies

Proposed Project:
Thermal Electric Generators

Student will design and build a thermal electric generation system that uses exhaust from an internal combustion engine to generate electricity which in turn will charge a battery. The goal is to
1) see if it is possible to design a system to replace the generator/alternator for an automobile
2) predict the energy savings of using such a system
